Canine Micro biome and the Biological Terrain Theory

The word microbiome is defined as the collection of microbes or microorganisms that inhabit an environment, creating a sort of “mini-ecosystem”.

The terrain theory was initiated by Claude Bernard (1813 – 1878), and later built upon by Antoine Bechamp (1816-1908). They believed that the “terrain” or “internal environment” determined the state of health. When a body is functioning in homeostasis, and immunity and detoxification is operating well, there is a healthy terrain which can handle various pathogenic microorganisms that inevitably enter the body.

Medicinal Mushrooms For Dogs

Supplementing dogs with medicinal mushrooms during times of stress (during heat cycle, breeding, pregnancy, exposure to toxins, etc.) is nothing new. It is just now gaining a lot more attention here in the western world.

Enrichment & Puppy Culture program

As many of you may already know, I (along with a few other NRBA Breeder members) use the Puppy Culture Program for raising my puppies which is based on creating enriched environments for puppies; teaching them to think things through and exposing them to sights, sounds and smells at a young age so that they will not become as anxious or fearful once they leave to their new homes.

Puppy Culture is more than a philosophy, its enrichment and socialization protocols are being put into practice by more and more breeders. Puppy Culture is a series of educational videos authored by Jane Killion, outlining even more of the science pertaining to puppy development in the first 12 weeks of life, and its practical application in the form of enrichment protocols and emotional resiliency exercises for breeders and puppy owners.

In my opinion, except for the one or two brief mentions of vaccinations,  It is the best hands-on guide for puppy enrichment and socializing available at this time!
